TactiCon Returns This July to Celebrate Strategy Games of All Kinds

The highly anticipated strategy gaming convention is making its comeback this summer, promising fans and developers an exciting showcase of the genre’s latest and greatest. TactiCon, organized by Hooded Horse and Firesquid, is set to run from July 18 to 22, 2024, and is designed to highlight diverse strategy subgenres—from grand strategy and 4X to turn-based tactics and real-time strategy. With each annual edition, the event has grown in size and influence, becoming a key gathering for both creators and enthusiasts eager to explore innovation and excellence in strategy game development.

Whether you’re a gamer eager to experience demos of upcoming titles, a developer looking to showcase your project, or a fan interested in panel discussions and developer streams, TactiCon offers an inclusive platform for all. The event will feature a vibrant schedule of panels, talks, and livestreams, along with a dedicated showcase packed with announcements and footage from the most exciting titles on the horizon. Attendees can also take advantage of discounts on released games, making it a perfect occasion for both discovery and celebration within the strategy community.

Game developers interested in participating can now submit their projects and exclusive reveals through the official submission form. To qualify, a game must have a live Steam page at the time of entry and meet one of the following criteria: it was released into Steam Early Access or full release after May 18, 2023; it has received a significant DLC or update since that date; or for upcoming titles, a playable demo will be ready by the event’s start. Submissions are due by 3 pm PT / midnight CEST on May 8, 2024, with results announced by May 31, 2024. Developers and speakers can also register to contribute to the event’s panels and talks, with a submission deadline of April 21st. More details and registration options are available on the official TactiCon website.

The organizers are enthusiastic about the event’s potential to boost visibility for strategy games and their creators. Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender expressed excitement for this third edition, emphasizing the event’s role in celebrating strategic and tactical gameplay. Similarly, Anders Larsson of Firesquid highlighted the significant impact TactiCon has had on indie developers worldwide, providing a vital platform for exposure and community engagement.

Reflecting on the success of previous years, TactiCon 2023 attracted over 1.6 million unique visitors and featured nearly 5,200 wishlists across more than a hundred titles. The event hosted nine expert panels and over 40 hours of live developer streams, alongside a popular showcase hosted by strategy content creators GamerZakh and ReneeSky.
